About Fish Doc Charters

  • Mission – The mission of Fish Doc Charters is to provide the highest quality charter services, allowing you to have unique and exciting experiences on the ocean.
  • Vessel – The Wolverine is a 2002 Edgewater 225 center console power boat that is designed to maximize safety and the use of deck space as you interact with the ocean. It comfortably holds 4 passengers and gear, and has a porta-poti sanitation system in the center console. The hull is constructed with unsinkable closed cell technology and has deep, padded gunwales for safety on the sea. In addition to the mandated US Coast Guard safety equipment, the Wolverine also carries 2 VHF radios, 2 GPS navigational systems, and an EPIRB emergency rescue beacon.
  • Captain – My name is Jim Carter. I grew up boating and fishing on inland lakes and the Great Lakes of Michigan. In 1999, I began my career as a psychologist and continue to practice today. In 2001, I began fishing in San Diego and in 2008, I received my U.S. Coast Guard OUPV Captain’s license and became a charter boat captain. I did so because being on the water is a very positive and life-changing experience for me and my guests.
  • Gear - The gear I use for kayaking and fishing is of the highest quality. Kayaks are rigged with superior seats that support your back, ergonomically designed paddles, and storage for your personal gear. For fishing tackle, I provide both traditional and spinning reels based upon your desire and skill level. The rods and reels are premium grade, spooled with the right line, and fitted with the best terminal tackle.
